Customs Clearance

Our licensed customs brokers manage your import, export and transit formalities quickly, securely and in full compliance with regulations.

Customs journey

How does a container clear customs?

For imports, we are with you at every step, from the moment your cargo arrives at port until delivery.

  1. Step 1

    Documents are prepared

Invoice, transport document (B/L, CMR or AWB), certificate of origin and any permits or conformity documents required for the product are collected.

  2. Step 2

    HS code is determined

The product's tariff classification is set. Duties, permits and restrictions depend on this code; getting it right prevents problems later.

  3. Step 3

    Declaration is filed

The customs broker submits the declaration electronically through the Customs Administration’s BILGE system.

  4. Step 4

    Risk analysis and lane

The system assigns the declaration to a lane. The lane is not known in advance; complete preparation speeds up the process in every lane.

Clearance is completed without document checks or physical inspection. The fastest route.

  5. Step 5

    Duties are paid

Customs duty, VAT and any other charges are calculated and paid.

  6. Step 6

    Cargo is released and delivered

After approval, the cargo is collected from the port or bonded warehouse and sets off for the delivery address.

Import duty calculator (Türkiye)

How much import duty will your goods pay in Türkiye?

If the surveillance value is higher than the customs value, taxes are calculated on the surveillance value.

Type an HS / GTİP code and the rates fill in automatically. You can also look up the rates in the Turkish Ministry of Trade’s official tariff system TARA and enter them, or ask our expert.

Industrial goods of EU origin with an A.TR certificate are usually duty-free under the Customs Union; agricultural products differ.

Customs duty (0%)0.00 ₺
Additional duty (0%)0.00 ₺
VAT base0.00 ₺

Total taxes payable0.00 ₺

Method: customs value = goods + freight + insurance (Turkish Customs Law No. 4458); VAT base = customs value + import taxes paid (VAT Law No. 3065, Art. 21). If a surveillance value is entered and is higher than the customs value, taxes are calculated on it; the TRT banderole fee is calculated on this value and added to the VAT base. Stamp duty, declaration and port costs and anti-dumping duties are not included. This is an estimate; the exact amount is set when the declaration is registered.

How long does customs clearance take?

It depends on the nature of the goods, the completeness of the document set and the lane the declaration is assigned to. Our pre-check eliminates potential delays before the operation begins.

Which documents are required?

Typically a commercial invoice, packing list, transport document (bill of lading, CMR or AWB) and, where required, origin or movement certificates. We share a product-specific checklist in our initial meeting.

What is an HS code (GTİP) and why does it matter?

The HS code (GTİP in Türkiye) shows the customs tariff position of the goods. The duties payable, required permits and restrictions are all determined by this code; incorrect classification can lead to penalties and delays.

Do you support HS code classification?

Yes. Correct tariff classification directly affects duty burden and compliance risk, so our expert team provides it as a dedicated service.

How is customs duty calculated?

Duties are generally calculated on the customs value of the goods (goods price, freight and insurance), at rates set according to the HS code and country of origin. We prepare a product-specific preliminary calculation for you.

What do the green, yellow and red lanes mean?

Every declaration goes through risk analysis in the customs system. In the green lane there are no document checks or inspection; in the yellow lane the documents are reviewed; in the red lane the goods are physically inspected along with the documents.

Who files the customs declaration?

The declaration is filed by the customs broker you authorise, through the Customs Administration’s electronic system. We run the entire process on your behalf.

Why do I need a customs broker?

Regulations, documents and duty calculations require expertise. A customs broker ensures that procedures are completed correctly, in full and on time, reducing the risk of penalties and delays caused by errors.

What are a certificate of origin and EUR.1?

A certificate of origin shows the country in which the goods were produced. Movement certificates such as EUR.1 can allow reduced or zero duty in trade with countries covered by a trade agreement.

What is a bonded warehouse and when is it used?

A bonded warehouse is a facility where goods whose duties have not yet been paid are stored under customs supervision. If you will not put the goods on the market immediately, it lets you defer duty payment and ease your cash flow.

What is the transit regime?

The transit regime allows goods to be moved without paying duties from one customs office to another, or through Türkiye to another country.

What is the inward processing regime?

The inward processing regime allows raw materials and intermediate goods used in products for export to be imported without paying duties. We provide consultancy on its conditions and document procedures.

Can I bring in samples from abroad?

Yes. Customs procedures for samples vary according to their nature, value and quantity. If you consult us before shipping, we can make the process easier.

Which imported products require permits or certificates?

Many product groups, such as food, cosmetics, electronics, toys, medicines and medical devices, may require conformity certificates or permits from the relevant authorities. We identify the requirements for your product in advance.

How does export customs clearance work?

The export declaration is prepared, the required documents are attached and the goods pass customs control before leaving the country. We also guide you in benefiting from export incentives and support schemes.

My goods are held at customs. What should I do?

Holds are usually caused by missing documents or permits, or by an inspection. Contact us: we will identify the cause, complete what is missing and work to have your goods released as quickly as possible.

Is there a risk of penalties at customs?

An incorrect HS code, an incomplete or inaccurate declaration and valuation discrepancies can result in penalties. By getting procedures right from the start, we keep these risks to a minimum.
